Three Old Vines

Warm, full-bodied, mostly zin, very drinkable from the get-go, but nothing that would set itself above, for the price... But we're treating ourselves, so who cares?

Chateau Ste Michelle

A nice, dry riesling, with great peach notes. Crisp, but not sharp; the acid is well-balanced, with good sweet notes. We paid about 11 bucks, chilled in the snow, had with linguini with white clam sauce.

Monte Antico Toscana

Chrissie brought this one over for burritos! This was a good blend, mostly of Sangiovese and dry. Very versatile, medium-bodied, little sweet, little fruit, little earth. Good on it's own or paired with anything... Chrissie thinks it's tart, but Jackie thinks it's pretty smooth. I feel like it's a good wine for those who like good Italian reds and chiante, but smoother. Good for new beginnings.

Benson Family Christmas

It's earthy and a little rich, not a ton of character, but a well-rounded. It's almost a little buttery, going well with salty-savory foods.

Montinore estate Pinot Gris

It's great - I'd have it again. Light bodied, a little bit of citrus, maybe apricot, but dry. Nice background to Thai food, nice and crisp to go with the basil in the pad thai.

And now for something tasty!

Not you're typical merlot. Lighter, with a strong taste of vanilla. An excellent pairing wine for an espresso filet or peppery steak. We had it with a hell of a damn good prime roast with mushroom wine and shallots and garlic sauce - beautiful! Great dinner at Chrissie's and Bri's place!
